Students Council Election-2025
The much-awaited Student Council election was successfully conducted on June 10, 2025, fostering a spirit of leadership and democratic participation among students. Pupils from Std I to Std X enthusiastically cast their votes, making their voices heard in shaping the school’s student leadership.
This year, the election was conducted through ballot papers, ensuring a fair and transparent process. After a spirited campaign and the diligent voting process, the results were announced to much excitement.

PRAVESHANOLSAVAM June 2, 2025
Udaya Higher Secondary School, Manjeshwar, School celebrated Praveshanolsavam with great enthusiasm on June 2, 2025, marking the beginning of the new academic year. The program commenced with a vibrant procession of students, filling the campus with energy and joy.
The event was graced by our esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Prakasha M, who addressed the gathering with inspiring words. He emphasized that “Education depends not only on teachers but also on students. It is not the school where you study that matters, but how you study that truly counts.”
Our respected Principal, Mr. Jerald Ivan Crasta, highlighted the importance of discipline and commitment in shaping a student’s life, reminding everyone that these values are the foundation of success.
Fr. Santhosh Dsouza, Campus Director, also shared his thoughts, stressing that value-based education lights the path to a bright future for students.
The celebration included a colorful cultural program showcasing the talents of our students. Teachers introduced themselves to the new students, fostering a sense of familiarity and warmth. As a token of welcome, gifts were distributed to all students.
The day concluded on a cheerful note, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
The Power of Possibility Thinking
On June 3, The school hosted an inspiring session titled “The Power of Possibility Thinking” by motivational speaker and youth mentor Mr. Elson Dsouza from Hirgan. The session aimed to foster personal growth, resilience, and a positive mindset among students.
Mr. Elson Dsouza’s warm and engaging approach encouraged active participation, even from the shyest students. A key highlight was the focus on positive strokes — using words of appreciation to build self-esteem and promote unity. His interactive stories, real-life examples, and activities helped students see challenges as opportunities and believe in their own potential.
Both teachers and students expressed gratitude for the practical and uplifting session. The school thanks Mr. Elson Dsouza for his valuable contribution in inspiring students to embrace possibility thinking and strive for excellence.
Phonetics workshop
School organized a four-day phonetics workshop from June 3, led by renowned educator Fr. Denzil Lobo. The sessions aimed at improving students’ English pronunciation, articulation, and communication skills.
Held in the school auditorium, the workshop covered key aspects of phonetics including consonants, vowels, stress patterns, intonation, and rhythm. Fr. Lobo’s interactive methods—using group activities, audio-visual aids, and practical exercises—helped students grasp the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and refine their diction.
Students enthusiastically participated in reading exercises, dialogues, and tongue-twisters. The workshop is expected to boost their confidence in public speaking and academic communication.
At the conclusion, Fr. Denzil Lobo praised the students’ active involvement and encouraged continued practice. Principal Jerald Ivan Crasta thanked Fr. Denzil Lobo and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education through such initiatives.
The program was well-received, with both students and staff expressing positive feedback.
Vision for Life
The school organized an awareness programme, Vision for Life, to educate students on the dangers of drug and alcohol addiction. Mr. N.G. Raghunathan, Assistant Excise Inspector (Retd.), led the session, highlighting the health, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse and urging students to make informed choices.
Principal Jerald Ivan Crasta and Campus Director Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza encouraged students to stay disciplined and reject harmful habits. The interactive event aimed to promote a healthy, responsible lifestyle among youth.

Faculty Enrichment Programme
Udaya Higher Secondary School, Manjeshwar, School organized a Faculty Enrichment Programme on 29th May 2025 at 9:30 AM. The session was graced by Dr. Sandra Sunitha Lobo, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, who served as the resource person.
Dr. Sandra Lobo, a renowned academician and psychologist, shared valuable insights on enhancing teaching methodologies, understanding student psychology, and fostering a positive learning environment. The programme aimed at empowering the faculty with innovative strategies to improve classroom engagement and address students' emotional and psychological needs effectively.
The interactive session was well-received by the teaching staff, who found it both enlightening and inspiring. The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sandra Lobo for her invaluable contribution towards faculty development.
Our Environment, Our Responsibility
Udaya Higher Secondary School organized a vibrant poster-making competition on the theme “Our Environment, Our Responsibility” as part of its Environment Day celebrations.
Students from Classes 1 to 10 showcased their creativity across three topics: “Clean School, Green School” (LP Section), “Save Water, Save Life” (UP Section), and “Sustainable Future Begins with Us” (High School Section). Their colorful posters, meaningful slogans, and original ideas reflected their commitment to protecting the environment.
Principal Jerald Ivan Crasta commended the participants for their efforts, stating that their work inspires the school community to care for the planet. Winning entries will be announced soon and displayed for all to see.
Tree Plantation Drive
Tree plantation drive on celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 with a successful tree plantation drive at Bejja Cross Road.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Jayarama Ballamgudel, Vice President of Meenja Gramma Panchayat, and Mr. Vinod G, Ward Member, Bejja. Students and staff planted saplings to promote environmental awareness and community responsibility.
The Chief Guests appreciated the school’s efforts and urged everyone to protect nature for future generations. The school thanks all participants for supporting this green initiative!
PRESENTATION ON CLIMATIC EMERGENCY
Udaya Higher Secondary School, Hosangadi, Manjeshwar, School organized a presentation on Climatic Emergency on 9th June 2025 at 1:00 PM.
Mr. Stephen Quadres, Professor at Govt. First Grade College for Women, Puttur, served as the resource person. He spoke on the causes, impacts, and solutions to the climate crisis, urging students to adopt sustainable practices.
The session was informative and interactive, with active student participation. The school thanked Mr. Quadres for his valuable contribution.

An input session for the teachers of our School was held on May 19, 20, and 21, 2025. The sessions were conducted by Fr Stany Pinto, Parish Priest of Mukka Church.
During the half-day sessions, Fr Stany Pinto focused on the role of teachers in shaping young minds, the importance of self-motivation, and strategies for creating a positive learning environment. The sessions were insightful and inspiring, providing valuable guidance for the professional and personal growth of the staff.

Leaders of Tomorrow
UDAYA Higher Secondary School, Hosangadi, Manjeshwar, School hosted its grand School Investiture Ceremony on the 24th of June 2025 at 2:00 PM in the School Auditorium. The event marked a significant moment in the academic calendar, celebrating leadership, responsibility, and student empowerment.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Sir George Crasta, Assistant Education Officer (AEO) of Manjeshwar, whose presence inspired students and staff alike. The ceremony began with a warm welcome followed by a formal address by Principal Jerald Ivan Crasta, who highlighted the importance of leadership and how the student council offers a platform to cultivate responsibility, discipline, and vision.
In his motivational speech, Sir George Crasta urged students to make the most of every opportunity to grow and evolve into responsible citizens of the nation. He emphasized the value of service, teamwork, and integrity in shaping a strong future generation.
The inauguration of the student clubs was carried out by the Chief Guest, marking a new chapter of engagement and extracurricular development for the school year.
The Oath Taking Ceremony was a solemn and proud moment as Nafeesth Fidah of Class X took the oath as School Pupil Leader (SPL) and Mohammad Ayyan Ebrahim as Assistant SPL, along with the newly elected student leaders, pledging their commitment to their roles and responsibilities.

Udaya HSS Auditorium, June 21, 2025 – Udaya Higher Secondary School observed International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and spirit on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the school auditorium.
The event was graced by the presence of Shri Vasudeva, a distinguished ISRO Engineer from Bangalore and a renowned yoga instructor, who served as the Chief Guest for the occasion.
In his keynote address, Shri Vasudeva emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. His words inspired the students and staff alike, highlighting yoga’s significance in managing stress and improving concentration, especially for young learners.
Following the address, Shri Vasudeva led a live yoga session, during which he demonstrated a series of asanas and breathing techniques. Students actively participated, following his guidance with enthusiasm and discipline. The session not only energized the participants but also instilled a deeper understanding of the benefits of yoga.

SMALL STARS, GREEN HEARTS
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the School Auditorium of Udaya Higher Secondary The school came alive with the cheerful energy of our youngest learners during the much-awaited program "Small Stars, Green Hearts", beautifully organized by the Kindergarten section.
The event commenced at 2:00 pm and was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Ramesha Barikkad, Professor & Head of the Extension Training Center, Monjoshwaram, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Barikkad delivered an inspiring message on the importance of protecting the environment and instilling eco-conscious values from an early age.
Principal Mr. Jerald Ivan Crasta appreciated the efforts of the tiny tots and expressed joy at how the platform provided a golden opportunity for the little ones to express themselves through speech and performance.
Campus Director Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza addressed the gathering and emphasized that every child should take responsibility for the Earth by planting at least one sapling — a step towards nurturing a greener tomorrow.
The highlight of the event was the delightful performances by the LKG and UKG children, who captivated the audience with a heartwarming skit, energetic dance routines, and an adorable action song. Their enthusiasm and innocence lit up the stage and reminded everyone of the joy and hope children bring to environmental efforts.

A week-long inauguration of newly designed notice boards was held at Udaya Higher Secondary School, Manjeshwar, from July 1 to July 7. The boards represent various departments including English, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Mathematics, IT, Science, and Social Science. Each inauguration took place at 1:00 PM in the presence of enthusiastic staff and students.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the School Principal, Mr. Jerald Ivan Crasta, and Campus Director, Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza. Club coordinators and student representatives from each academic club also took part in the ceremonies.
The initiative aims to provide students with a vibrant platform to express their thoughts, display their creativity, and enhance subject-based knowledge. These boards are more than decorative—they are living spaces for ideas, artwork, articles, and educational updates.

In a spirited display of student leadership and public speaking, the annual Mock Parliament was held on 04 July 2025 at 3:00 PM in the School Auditorium. The session aimed to encourage democratic dialogue and critical thinking among students, while addressing pressing matters within the school community.
This year’s mock session focused on two major issues:
1. Speaking Vernacular Languages in Place of English
Members passionately debated the frequent use of regional languages in areas where English is expected, such as classrooms and formal events. The House discussed whether this practice hinders communication, inclusivity, and the development of English fluency. While some argued for preserving cultural identity, others emphasized the importance of maintaining English as the medium of instruction and formal communication in school.
2. Discipline in the School
The second issue tackled was the decline in student discipline, including punctuality, uniform code violations, and classroom behavior. Proposed solutions included stricter enforcement of rules, awareness programs, and student-led discipline committees. Members agreed that fostering self-discipline and respect for school norms is essential for a healthy learning environment.
The session saw active participation, well-structured arguments, and respectful rebuttals, showcasing the students’ awareness and concern for school development.

The Principal appreciated the students for their enthusiasm and emphasized that such platforms are crucial in shaping responsible future citizens. “Mock Parliament not only builds confidence but also teaches the value of structured discussion and collective problem-solving,” he noted.
In a remarkable initiative to promote health awareness among students, Udaya Higher Secondary School, Hosangadi, Manjeshwar in collaboration with Father Muller Hospital, Mangalore, organized a Medical Camp on 25th June 2025 at 9:30 AM in the School Auditorium.
Themed "Small Steps to Big Health," the camp focused on preventive healthcare and the importance of early diagnosis. A team of expert doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals from Father Muller Hospital conducted general health check-ups for students, including eye screening, dental examination, and basic health assessments.
Students were also given valuable health insights, including tips on hygiene, nutrition, mental well-being, and the importance of regular exercise. Interactive sessions allowed students to ask questions and learn directly from the professionals.
The camp not only raised awareness about maintaining a healthy lifestyle but also encouraged students to take proactive steps in caring for their well-being.
